general instructions

Lift and block the vehicle.
Take note the radio-antitheft code.
Disconnect the battery.
Replace the drive belt.
Never turn the motor through the camshaft's pinion.
Unless specified otherwise, turn the motor in the normal rotation direction.
Apply all tightening torques.

demounting

Place the vehicle on a platform.
Remove :
  • The front/right wheel.
  • The guard casing of the engine.
  • The front/right wheel arch.
  • The cylinder head cover.
  • The ignition coils.
  • The drive belt.
  • The winding roller of the drive belt.
  • The pulley of the crankshaft.
  • The timing-gear covers.

removal of the belt of the balance shafts

Remove :
  • The sparks of the first cylinder.
Install :
  • A dial igauge T with an adapter in the central spark's well.

Install :
  • The tool to rotate the crankshaft pinion.
Turn :
  • Slowly the crankshaft B2 until the TDC on the n.1 cylinder.

Control :
  • The alignment of the markings A of the balance shaft.

Loosen :
  • The nut D of the idler roller G1b of the belt of the balance shaft.

Remove :
  • The belt O5 of the balance shafts.

Control :
  • That the crankshaft is definitely on the TDC of the n.1 cylinder.
Loosen :
  • The screw F holding the idler roller G1.
Slacken :
  • The timing belt O1.
Remove :
  • The timing belt O1.

Loosen :
  • The screws holding the intake camshaft pinion A2 while maintaining the pinion with the torque-blocking tool.
Remove :
  • The screw holding the exhaust camshaft pinion A3 while maintaining the pinion with the torque-blocking tool.

Remove :
  • The hats of the camshaft bearing.
Cylinder 3 exhaust side.
Cylinder 2 intake side.
Install :
  • The setting tool instead of the removed bearings.

Install :
  • The timing belt O1.
Stretch :
  • The belt to the maximum with the belttensioning tool.
Tighten :
  • The screw F holding the idler roller.
Tighten again :
  • The screws holding the exhaust and intake camshaft pinions with the torque-blocking tool.
Inlet :
Tightening torque 1,2 daN.m.
Exhaust :
Tightening torque 10 -> 12,4 daN.m.
Remove :
  • The setting tools.
Put back :
  • The hats of the camshaft bearing.
Tightening torque 1,3 -> 1,6 daN.m.
Turn :
  • The crankshaft two turns clockwise until the TDP at cylinder n.1.
Loosen :
  • The screw F holding the idler roller G1.
Align :
  • The mobile mark G of the idler roller with the aim-hole H of the cylinder block with the help of the tension tool E) (ref.1.822.149.00.
Tightening torque 2,1 -> 2,6 daN.m.



Remove :
  • The dial-gauge T.
Put back :
  • The plugs.

Control :
  • The alignment of the markings A of the balance shaft.
Put back :
  • Provisionally the lower cover of the timing belt.
  • Provisionally the crankshaft pulley B1.
Adjust :
  • The alignment of the markings B on the pulley and the cover C.
Remove :
  • The pulley of the crankshaft B1.
  • The lower timing cover.
Install :
  • The belt O5 of the balance shafts.
Make coincide :
  • The aim-hole J with the center of the rotation space I.


Tighten :
  • The nut D of the idler roller G1b of the belt of the balance shaft.

reassembly

Put back :
  • The remaining parts in reverse order of the removal.
